Don't be afraid to take off your computer case and look around. Buy canned air and clean out all the dust clogging the cpu fan, case fan, and power supply. Take out the ram sticks and put them back in. Buy a bigger video card and put it in. Or sound card. If you have a techie friend ask them to check your work. Or just do it yourself. It isn't hard.
